Anton Vickerman, owner of the pirate website Surf The Channel, pleaded guilty yesterday (21st November) to contempt of court at Newcastle Crown Court. Vickerman published on the internet restricted court documents from the original trial.
Vickerman was convicted of two counts of conspiracy to defraud and sentenced to four year’s imprisonment in August this year. His Honour Judge Evans yesterday handed him an extra month’s imprisonment for contempt of court.
At its peak Surf The Channel was one of the 500 most popular websites globally and was making Vickerman £50,000 per month from advertising revenues.
